Church of St James, Rymättylä

Rymättylä's most important historic sight and the landmark of the parish. The medieval stone church rises on the isthmus between two sea bays, and its oldest parts date back to the 14th century. Dedicated to St James, it especially rewards visitors drawn to medieval churches, old vault paintings and archipelago history.

Röölä village

Röölä is a charming seaside village on the shore of Laitsalmi. It's perfect for a short stop — a stroll around the harbour, a coffee break and a breath of genuine archipelago atmosphere. Rymättylä's renowned herring tradition is still very much alive here.

Dikseli herring museum, Röölä

Dikseli tells the story of herring fishing and curing in Rymättylä. The local Saukko herring fleet made its fishing voyages from the late 1940s all the way to 1976, and the museum follows the herring's journey from catch to salting. The Mill Museum shares the same premises.

Karhuvuori, Aasla

A nature and viewpoint destination on the island of Aasla. The roughly two-kilometre trail is fairly demanding due to steep climbs, but rewards you with wide archipelago views. Karhuvuori is crowned by a lookout tower, the original air-surveillance tower having been built as early as 1938. A fine choice for a short hike.

A Naantali classic: blocks of wooden houses, cafés and restaurants, small boutiques and an atmospheric harbour setting. The Old Town is one of Naantali's key attractions and a lovely place to spend an afternoon on foot.

Naantali Church

A medieval convent church from 1443 and one of Naantali's most historically valuable sites. It stands practically next to the Old Town and the harbour, so it's easy to combine with a walk around the old quarter.

Kultaranta

The summer residence of the President of Finland and one of Naantali's best-known attractions. The Kultaranta garden in particular is worth the trip: its formal garden, flower beds, roses and water pools come into their own on the guided tours run during the summer season.

The clear number-one destination for families with children, on the island of Kailo. Moominworld is among Naantali's central attractions and is above all a summer-season experience for the whole family.

A good stop if you want to understand Naantali's story as an old convent and spa town. The museum sits in the Old Town, a short walk from the harbour and the church.

Kuparivuori and the Path of Love

A handy short walk right beside the Old Town. From the Sun Path you can continue along the Path of Love up to the cliffs of Kuparivuori, which open onto a view over Naantali Bay.

Luonnonmaa nature trails

Just beside central Naantali, the island of Luonnonmaa has several trails, such as the Haijainen nature trail and the Villa route. They're ideal if you'd like to add an easy forest or archipelago walk to your Naantali trip.

Passes by the farm

Saariston rengastie (Archipelago Trail)

A popular archipelago touring route that winds through the southern Turku archipelago via ferries and bridges. The Little Ring Road also passes through Rymättylä, so you can join it straight from the farm. A great way to see the archipelago on a full-day or weekend loop. Find the route guide at rengastie.fi.
